The touring juggernaut known as Stadium Tour with Motley Crue and Def Leppard made it’s stop in Omaha, Nebraska this past weekend. The tour which originally started last summer as “the tour to see”, with Motley Crue coming out of retirement. The momentum from that tour led them to carry on into Europe and then back to the United States for another round of dates.
The show on this night was highly anticipated by the crowd. Lots of energy and excitement in the stadium. I should have taken my camera and photographed more of the fans, who were dressed to the hilt for the 80’s. Lots of spandex, high heels, headbands, and some wigs to help pull off the look. It was one of the best atmospheres of a show I’ve experienced in a long time.
Motley Crue; A little rougher, a little louder, and a whole bunch more raunchier. But it’s Motley Crue, would you expect any less? First off, I love Mick Mars, been a fan since the early days. That being said, I do believe that John 5 is a shot of energy for the band that was needed if they were going to continue on.
The Crue is full throttle from the opening note till the last one is echoing in the sound system. And say what you want about Vince Neil, but the guy goes out each night and gives his all. If you’ve ever seen the Crue live, and I have a few times over the years. The first time in 1983 on the Shout at the Devil Tour.
If you know anything, Vince has never been the most cleanest singer on the stage. What you get from Vince is a lot of effort , energy, and a ton of attitude. That is who Motley Crue is. That is who they always will be. As far as the set list goes, it was a lot of classic Motley songs from throughout their career. In the middle was a montage of cover songs, some the Crue had recorded, some not. The set ended with the classic Kickstart My Heart.
All in all, a great night for rock and roll. In my book you got a little bit of everything. Should Motley Crue have come back? Who cares. They did, so you might as well enjoy it.
